Dr. Harsh Vardhan said on Tuesday that the vaccine will be available next year(2021)march against Kovid-19. Mostly three companies are doing experiments on vaccines and reach clinical trials.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that three vaccines in clinical trials in India, have been proven to be safe, immunity and effective in India and bridging studies need to be done to prove their safety and immunity in the Indian population. Very small sample size and ends quickly.
Health Minister said it was good to take a single dose of the vaccine. However, it is very difficult to achieve the required immune protection with a single dose. So the first dose gives some immunity while the second dose gives required immunity.
On October 8, the first batch of 100 people was vaccinated in an Indian trial of a vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and Astrogenica and it is in 1st phase of clinical trial.
Kovacsin, developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Institute of Virology, has completed its Phase I human clinical trial. Phase II human clinical trial is ongoing.
The Covshield vaccine is a joint venture between, Serum Institute of India (SII) and ICMR, and is in the second phase of a human clinical trial.
