The National Disaster Response Force has appointed a total of 50 teams — with 30 being deployed on the ground in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh — in view of the cyclone moving ahead from the Bay of Bengal towards the coastal areas. Twenty teams have been kept on standby at Vijaywada (Andhra Pradesh), Cuttack (Odisha) and Thrissur (Kerala).

The outer bands of Cyclone Nivar started affecting coastal places of South Andhra Pradesh. Intense rains are likely to start till shar-narsapur and slowly move into interior parts of the state tonight. Nivar about 200 km ESE of Cuddalore. It is very likely to intensify further into a very severe cyclonic storm during the next 9 hrs. It is very likely to cross Tamilnadu& Puducherry coasts during mid-night of 25th & early hours of 26th November.

As if now Cyclone Nivar is very Likely to make landfall nearby Marakkanam with the wind speed of 120-130kmph, Gusting to 145kmph.
