Amaravathi: On the occasion of World Fisheries Day, the Hon’ble Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of 4 fishing harbors & 25 aqua hubs across the state. The CM said that overall 8 new fishing harbors will be constructed in 2 phases, at an expenditure of Rs. 3000 Crore.
On this occasion, the CM spoke to fishermen and aqua farmers in different districts via video conference. He said that while providing everything in Navratna to the fishermen, the promises given to them have been fulfilled. He said efforts were being made to change the lives of farmers who cultivate fish, prawns and crabs over the coming year. “We are taking steps to set up aqua hubs in all the required constituencies at a cost of Rs 225 crore,” he said. He announced the construction of Machilipatnam, Ramayapatnam and Bhavanapadu ports at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore.
On this occasion, CM YS Jagan further said that today is World Fisheries Day. We celebrate this as a festival. Our country has 7,516 kilometers of coastline, while our state has 974 kilometers of coastline. We are the second-largest coastal state in the country.
However, why the lives of fishermen in Andhra Pradesh have not changed so much, we must all put our hands on our hearts and think with a conscience. I saw with my own eyes how miserable the lives of fishermen were.
A situation where there are no good studies. The homeless, Proper health care, a situation where hard work pays off. It is a pity that the fishermen do not get a reasonable price. All this is visible to our eyes.
