Out of 1,03,769 notified vacancies for Level-1 appointments, Indian Railways has notified 20 percent vacancies (i.e. 20,734 vacancies) for Apprentices.
The Ministry of Railways has made appropriate preparations to conduct the Computer Based Test (CBT) from December 15, 2020. According to an amendment made to the Apprenticeship Act in 2016, every employer should formulate a recruitment policy for trained apprentices in their establishment. With this in view, the Railways has kept 20% vacancies in Level 1 recruitment for such apprentices and given a fair opportunity to all.
It may be noted that RRBs have issued three Centralized Employment Notifications (CENs). A total of 1.4 lakh vacancies for various categories of staff through Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) for CN01/2019 (NTPC categories), CN03/2019 (Discrete and Cabinet categories), and RRC-01/2019 (Level-1 categories)). More than 2.40 crore candidates have applied against these employment notifications.
