Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the government would set the right age for the marriage of daughters in the country. The concerned committee is going to submit its report as soon as possible. Before that, the central government said on September 22 that a task force had been set up to look into the interrelationship of marriage and motherhood. He said, “We are taking appropriate steps for the welfare of our daughters. We are working to provide water to every household through the Jal Jeevan Mission. We are providing sanitary pads at the rate of Rs 1 per person”.
“(I) A task force has been set up to examine the correlation of marriage and motherhood with health, medical well-being and maternal and neonatal / infant/child nutritional status, during pregnancy, birth, and later, (ii). Infant mortality rate, maternal mortality rate. , Total fertility rate, sex ratio at birth, child sex ratio and (iii) other related issues related to health and nutrition in this context, ”Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Gupta during the last parliamentary sessions.
